Highlights

  • Nairobi - Nairobi, often dubbed the "Green City in the Sun," is a vibrant and bustling metropolis that serves as a unique gateway to East African adventures. It's a city of contrasts, offering everything from urban wildlife encounters to rich cultural experiences.
  • Amboseli - Often referred to as the "Home of the African Elephant." It's renowned for its large and easily observable elephant herds, some of the biggest in Africa. You can witness these magnificent creatures up close, often in groups of dozens or even hundreds, bathing in the swamps, dust-bathing, or simply roaming the vast plains.
  • Ngorongoro often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," is an absolutely phenomenal safari destination located in northern Tanzania. It's not just a crater; it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the centerpiece of the larger Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is unique in its approach to conservation, allowing Maasai pastoralists to live alongside wildlife.

Itinerary: 12 Days Bigtime Safari Experience

Expand All Days

Upon arrival into Nairobi, you are met by our representative and transferred to your luxurious accommodations in one of Kenya’s most famous hotels. Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. Immersed in the leafy surrounds of Kenya’s beautiful Karen Forest is the elegant House of Waine – an upmarket retreat, which offers guests intimacy and superb accommodation. Guests can unwind in one of 11 individually decorated suites —each with a spacious, marble en-suite bathroom, satellite television, a complimentary personal non-alcoholic mini-bar, TV with satellite and local channels, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Appreciate colourful fresh flowers and delicious cookies delivered to your room each day.

House of Waine offers a wonderful selection of menus, served in various locations on the property, which reflect the diversity of flavours found in Nairobi. There are also two bars, which are exclusively for the use of guests and a sparkling heated swimming pool for those quiet hours between sightseeing. Must-see attractions include a visit to Kazuri Beads, the Karen Blixen Museum, Matbronze Art Gallery and Foundry, Giraffe Centre (to hand feed giraffes and for nature walks), the Daphne Sheldrick Wildlife Sanctuary – where you can interact with (and perhaps adopt) elephants and rhinos – and the renowned Nairobi National Park
Transfer to wilson airport for your schedule flight to Amboseli National Park, famous for its big game and views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. You will be met and transfered to Tortilis Camp in time for lunch. Cruise through acacia woodlands, freshwater swamps and open plains in search of elephants, zebra and wildebeest. The next day, discover more of this wildlife haven on additional game drives, departing for your first of the day at dawn. Look to distant Kilimanjaro, illuminated in an inspired, early-morning light.
Drive from Kenya into Tanzania, stopping in Arusha for lunch. Then, fly to Manyara and transfer to Ngorongoro Lodge Melia, perched on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and “Lost World” of wildlife, Ngorongoro Crater was formed three million years ago when a giant volcano erupted and collapsed. Today, Ngorongoro is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including one of the highest densities of lions. Tonight, take in sweeping views from your own private balcony. The next day, ride into the lush expanse for a picnic lunch and full day of game drives. Later, visit a Maasai village, where you meet with the village elder and learn how to make the tribal community’s unique beaded jewelry.
Depart for Serengeti National Park. Stop en route for a privately guided visit to Olduvai Gorge, an archaeological site housing some of the earliest human remains. Arrive at your lodge and, time permitting, set out on your first game drive into the extraordinary Serengeti. The next day brings morning and afternoon game drives in search of Africa’s “Big Five” — leopards, buffalo, elephants, rhinos and lions, the last of which have large numbers here. In lieu of the morning game drive, you may also choose to take your family on an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over the endless plains of the Serengeti (weather permitting and at an additional cost).
Transfer by air and overland to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. Check in to your luxury camp near the Mara River. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive. Explore this magnificent savanna country for the next two days on morning and afternoon game drives, searching for giraffes, hippos and hyenas. Look forward to a family friendly sundowner experience, sipping refreshing mocktails and cocktails from a surprise scenic location. Later, experience local life when you opt to visit with students at a nearby primary school. Seize another opportunity for a hot air balloon ride (weather permitting and at an additional cost). On your final evening, celebrate with a farewell dinner.
Fly to Nairobi and enjoy a reserved dayroom at the House of Waine. Later, transfer to the JKIA airport for your exit flight.
